Visiting the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge
Every week I volunteer a day (sometimes two) of my time to spend at my local animal shelter, which happens to be the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge located on Sippy Creek Rd Tanawha.
The shelter helps to find new homes for abandoned, abused, stray and unwanted cats and dogs. All of the cats and dogs who arrive at scars are vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, desexed, micro chipped and also treated for any medically conditions if required before they are released ready for the adoption process.
The purpose of volunteering my time is to help capture images of these beautiful animals to share on social media platforms allowing both the local community and potentially as far as other states to work together getting the word out there to find them the perfect families.
Let me introduce you to some of the current animals looking for homes...
(Above) TAYA, 3yo Female, Shar Pei x Bull Arab
Taya is a darling girl with a relaxed and easy going personality. Taya is a very people orientated young girl and was surrender to the local pound due to work commitments of her previous owners

(Above) Kristi, 2.5yo Female, Domestic Short Hair
*A kind and generous lady has paid it forward by paying the $29 adoption fee for Kristie, so that the new owners will not have to pay for her, and she hopes they will pay it forward as well.
Kristi has been looking for that perfect home for some time now and is still patiently waiting. Kristi is a bit of a character and is suited to an adult only household, where she likes a good head and ear scratch. She has a very inquisitive and outgoing nature as she likes to see what your up to and have a chat. Kristy likes to walk around on a harness to experience the great outdoors, so if you would like to walk the cat instead of the dog she will be all for it!

(Above) Tasma, 9 yo Female, Domestic medium hair
**Looking for a Permanent foster - no fee**
Tasma is a very sweet natured girl who needs a gentle loving home environment with people who understand her needs. She has the most beautiful eyes and a very sweet little meow she uses to greet people with. She loves cuddles and enjoys just lazing in the sun. Daily brushing will help to keep her coat looking it's best. Tasma has a number of health issues but is still happy and active. Because of these health issues we are looking for a permanent foster carer where she can live out her retirement years.

(Above) Cathie, 4.7 yo Female, Domestic short hair.
**ADOPTED**
*Some of our wonderful foster carer's have paid it forward by paying the $29 adoption fee for Cathie, so that the new owners will not have to pay for her.
Cathie is a very sweet girl, who likes a pat and enjoys a nice chat. If you are after a chatty Cathie then look no further! She likes to see what you are up to and climb up on her perches to watch the world from up on high, always ready for a good conversation. Cathie has been around other cats here in the refuge but tends to do her own thing and likes to rule the roost. She is ok to be stroked and patted, but is not really a holding cat at this point in time. She enjoys her food puzzle toys, watching T.V., listening to the radio and following a laser pointer.

(Above) Luci, 10yo Female, Domestic Short Hair.
*Currently residing at The Cat Retreat Café @ Hobbits Knob Cat Retreat, please call if you would like any details 5494 5275* Some of our wonderful foster carer's have paid it forward by paying the $29 adoption fee for Luci, so that the new owners will not have to pay for her.
Luci came to us as her owner needed help due to moving away. She is used to one on one companionship with a single owner, but is willing to adjust to a loving couple. Luci is an older girl who is set in her ways, where she tends to laze about in a comfy spot, listening to music and having a chat with you when you enter the room. She is not suitable for children or more mature people as Luci is a bit of a character. She does like to rule the roost, so no other animals for her please and she has not lived with other animals before. If you love a real character of a cat that is a bit lazy, doesn't require much effort to care for then she may be just right for you!
